WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
As if ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ wasn’t already gut-wrenching, it just got a lot more sad. Director James Gunn has confirmed some phrases that Groot actually means when he says “I Am Groot.” During the scene where a bunch of our favorite heroes turn to ash, Rocket is holding on to Groot as he starts to disengrate. Groot gives us one last “I Am Groot” before he goes which apparently is him saying ‘Dad’ to Rocket.
If we weren’t blubbery messes before knowing this, we sure are now.
This video is going around with the “actual” translations of Groot lines from the script (which, yes, I always have). The last one “Dad” is correct (because I’ve shared this before). The others are close, good guesses, but not exact. Still good work! pic.twitter.com/CX532X4vPk
