Zhi Xiang is no ordinary animal rescuer: he is a Buddhist monk and has given nearly 8,000 dogs a new life, either at his ancient monastery or at a shelter he runs in Shanghai.

Xiang has been rescuing and caring for dogs since 1994. He has truly made it his life work to give these dogs a second chance at life and a loving home. He also hopes to one day visit every dog he’s rescued and take pictures with them, so he has the photos to look back on as he grows old.
Is it misty in here or is it just us?!
